Calculating Your Life Expression Number (Numerology Lesson 5)

In this lesson you will learn how to calculate your Life Expression number, sometimes known as the Destiny Number or the Personality number.

This sum describes all of the talents and potentials that are at your disposal in this lifetime and is calculated from the letters that compose your full birth name. It represents what kind of ideals or standards that you need to live up to in this lifetime to be "complete."

Remember that this number cannot be your nickname or your married name, but rather the name that is found written in full on your birth certificate. It is the number that reveals what makes you tick, what excites you and what motivates you as a person. If your name is misspelled on your birth certificate, use that to configure your Life expression number.

Unlike the Life Path Number, which is more about your limitations or possibilities due to your ancestry or physicality, this calculation offers you a glimpse of how you can make the most of your experience on earth.

The value of your Life Expression Number is that it shows you what you are truly capable of or what you should look for when it comes to realizing your highest potential.

To calculate your Life Expression number, treat each of your names separately and add up the values according to the conversion chart below.

Today we will be using the name of Brad Pitt, whose full name is actually William Bradley Pitt.

So first we would take William and add up the values as assigned to each letter:

William 5 + 9 + 3 + 3 + 9 + 1 + 4 = 34

This would be reduced down to 3+4 which = 7

Bradley 2 + 9 + 1 + 4 + 3 + 5 + 7 = 31

3 + 1 reduces to 4

Pitt 7 + 9 + 2 + 2 = 20

2 + 0 reduces to 2

We then add all three of the reduced sums together to get a total

William + Bradley + Pitt

7 + 4 + 2 = 13

All double digits (except the master numbers 11 and 22 which are symbolic entities in themselves) are then reduced to a single number by adding them together.

This means that Brad Pitt's Life Expression is a number 4.

Given that the Expression number reveals one's true potential and secret personality there is a very good chance that Mr. Pitt's real talents are wasted as an actor. His number is 4 which means that Mr. Pitt would make an excellent architect, surgeon or teacher.

The interest in architecture would certainly ring a bell with Brad Pitt fans. Not only did Pitt study architecture at an Oklahoma university but he is also working with architect Rande Gerber n a big project in London. He has also financed the rehabilitation of buildings designed by Frank Gehry. So it seems that aside from his acting career that, Pitt is also pursuing a career as a designer of buildings.

Number 4's love balance and order and can be very systemic and methodical in their thinking. This could certainly account for Pitt's ability to organize several production companies at once, his acting career and a side career as a budding architect.

Number 4's also don't feel that their destiny is fulfilled until their life is filled with many descendants. Issues around child rearing certainly contributed to his recent break up with his wife Jennifer Aniston and his devotion to his mistress Angelina Jolie's new child is also expressing part of his heart's desire to bear progeny.

Number 4's make good parents and many of them end up being pillars of the community. Although they may appear quiet and even slow mentally to other individuals behind that patient facade is very intelligent person who is deeply analytical, philosophical and capable of absorbing and handling great amounts of information.

The truest expression of his life path would be to set a great work in motion that benefits society both spiritually and materially.

In our next installment of this numerology e-course we will reveal the interpretations associated with each number.

Interpretations of the Life Path Numbers (Numerology Lesson 4)

If you followed the last lesson on how to calculate your life path number you are probably eager to find out their meanings!

If you have forgotten all about it, once again, the formula is:

Convert the month to a single number or a master number (November stays 11 rather than 2).

Then convert the day of birth to a single digit or master number.

Next, add the total digits of year and reduce this sum to a single digit or master number. The individual digits representing the month, day, and year, be they single digits or master numbers, are then added together, as necessary to reduce the sum once again to a single digit 1 through 9, or to the numerology "master numbers," 11 or 22.

These master numbers, as components of the date or as a final result, are not reduced any further.

The following interpretations are by no means consummate descriptions of a life path. I could devote ten pages to each number. Still this will give you an idea of your destiny in brief.

Life Path Interpretations

Number 1

You are all about power. Number 1's often become great leaders. For this reason, they make great entrepreneurs, freelancers, generals, commanders, CEOs and producers.

A number one is usually blessed with motivation, enthusiasm, creativity and inspiration. They tend to be physically healthier and mentally stronger than most people are.

They often lust for success (especially material) at any cost. Number 1s who stray from their paths often end up in clingy codependent relationships.

Number 2

You are all about love. The most important thing to you is finding a soul mate. Those following a number 2 Life Path tend to be diplomatic, sensitive individuals who make great judges, mediators, lawyers counselors or social workers as they bring harmony to all group situations.

It is very important for them to get out and socialize.

A number 2 who is isolated courts pessimism, lethargy
and depression.

Number 3

You are all about performance! Number 3's are entertainers of the world and most of them are truly gifted musicians, writers, actors, dancers, public speakers and politicians.

The number 3 life path is one that is characterized by beauty, excitement, eccentricity and fame. Number 3's stray off their life path by giving up their dreams and talents. Many escape into drug abuse or promiscuity to avoid hearing the nagging voice of their true calling to express their talents.

Number 4

You are all about stability! Number 4's often end up becoming the pillars of the community. These individuals are hard working, practical and trustworthy.

These loyal individuals make fantastic marriage and business partners.

However, self-sacrificing number 4's often demand too much both of themselves and others and develop reputations as martyrs or tyrants. Their will power and stubbornness can also be interpreted as greed and selfishness.

This completely baffles the confused number 4 whose intentions are usually to benefit the good of all.

Number 5

You are all about freedom! 5's are highly inquisitive individuals who consider hands on experience to be the best teacher in life. Many of them are deeply intelligent, philosophical and spiritually minded. They are also great communicators that make excellent social anthropologists, archaeologists, teachers, writers and historians.

However, fives tend to be very self-absorbed and unaware of the effect of their actions on other people. As other people often feel tricked or fooled by number 5's, experiencing a series of broken relationships is also often a part of their path.

Number 6

You are all about nurturing. Number Six Life Path are usually people-pleasers that have a great need to feel indispensable to others. For this reason many number 6's often dedicate their lives to being care givers and service providers such a doctors, nurses, counselors, fire fighters and law keepers.

Sixes usually feel a spiritual obligation to help others. Sixes that find themselves enslaved to an addicted or mentally ill partner might not be following their true path, as this is a sign that they have become enablers, rather than healers of the diseases.

Number 7

You are all about knowledge! Sevens intellectual and studious personalities often pursue advanced academic careers. As they love to absorb information, they usually require a great deal of private time to cultivate their knowledge.

These reserved and analytical deep-thinkers make great mathematicians, engineers, inventors, scientists and doctors. A sign that a number 7 has strayed completely off of his or her life path is a complete withdrawal from society.

In this case, the troubled 7 should try to recognize his or her original ambitions to improve the world through the application of wisdom.

Number 8

You are all about wealth. Number 8's are usually confident, charismatic individuals. Usually their life purpose is learning to manipulate money and power without becoming corrupted in the process. They become landowners, builders and bankers.

Eights have tremendous potential for practically improving the lives of thousands, perhaps millions of people. Sometimes the pursuit of riches becomes more important than personal relationships and cost them their personal relationships, morality and popularity.

Number 9

You are all about spirituality. Those on the number 9 Life path are destined to travel a humanitarian path. These sophisticated individuals are very selfless souls and are often patient, trustworthy and honorable from the very beginning to the end of their life.

These individuals make great environmentalists, teachers, artists, priests and healers. Sometimes a nine's lofty ideals are presented in a manner that others find absurd.

Part of a 9's life path is to express spiritual principles through actions, rather than through preaching or proselytizing.

Number 11

You are about enlightenment. Elevens tend to lead a life of extremes. In their quest to find a balance between the rational and the irrational, they will often pursue the most eclectic of religions and cultures.

These avant-garde and visionary individuals make great students, psychics, mystics, healers, teachers, writers, musicians and artists.

Many of them are "wounded healers" who at some point in their life suffer a devastating experience that propels them on the search for spirituality. However along with these situations usually comes a lot of toxic emotional baggage and a harsh inner critic.

It takes many 11's their entire life to rid themselves of the chip on their shoulder and achieve enlightenment.

Number 22

You are a master builder. Whatever a 22 thinks about is almost sure to become manifest so it is very important for them to choose their thoughts carefully. If they are willing to work for what they desire they can achieve enormous prestige, success and fame.

They are the most capable of the Life Path numbers and are endowed with many powers. They have a unique talent for manifesting ideas into the realm of reality. Sometimes they display what looks like insensitivity but actually they are just very focussed on their goals.

This is part of a spiritual directive to be detached from objects and the outcome of events. Many of them work for material gain, with the idea that their wealth should be spread among the masses.

Now that we have calculated your Life Path number, our next lesson will teach you how to calculate your Expression number ... which reveal the secrets behind your potential and what makes you (or another person) tick!

Desire or Need (The Secret Daily Teachings)

To desire something is in proper accordance with the law. You attract what you desire.

To need something is misuse of the law. You cannot attract what you need if you feel you need it urgently or desperately, because that emotion contains fear. That kind of "needing" keeps things away.

Desire everything. Need nothing.

How to Calculate Your Life Path Number (Numerology Lesson 3)

Congratulations, you have now graduated to calculating the mightiest of numerology numbers - The Life Path Number!

The Life Path is determined by the sum that is arrived at after reducing your birth date by adding digits together. This number represents the traits and talents that you were born with and the probable journey you will take during your lifetime.

Just to refresh your memory The Life Path is based on your full birth date as it is described numerologically.

An example of this would be 06 04 1975 (month, day, year).

Here is the formula:

First, convert the month to a single number or a master number (November stays 11 rather than 2). Then convert the day of birth to a single digit or master number. Next, add the total digits of year and reduce this sum to a single digit or master number.

The individual digits representing the month, day, and year, be they single digits or master numbers, are then added together, as necessary to reduce the sum once again to a single digit 1 through 9, or to the numerology "master numbers" 11 or 22. These master numbers, as components of the date or as a final result, are not reduced any further.

Now let's go through this step by step using the always controversial Angelina Jolie's birthday as an example.

She was born June 4, 1975.

First convert the month to a single number or master number.

Note that when calculating months, double-digit months such as October, November and December will not reduce down to a single digit. For example November which is the 11th month equates to the number 2 after you add 1+1 together. It does not reduce to a 1.

Angelina Jolie's birthday does not reduce down to a single digit. Her birth month is the sixth month of the year. Her month number is 6.

Your next step is to convert your day of birth to a single digit. For instance, if you were born on the 17th then you would add 1 and 7 together to reduce the number to 8. If you were born on the 29th you would reduce to the master number 11.

Angelina Jolie's birthday does not have to be reduced as she was born on the 4th, so her number is 4.

Next, add the total digits of the birth year and reduce them to a single number. Jolie's birth year is 1975 so you would add 1+9+7+5 to arrive at a sum that represents the year number.

In Jolie's case the year is the master number 22 (so don't reduce further).

Now add the month sum, birth sum and year sum together.

For Jolie it would be:

6+4+22 = 32

If you get a double digit, as is the case with Angelina Jolie, reduce the number down further.

3+2 = 5

Angelina Jolie's Life Path number is a 5. In fact Jolie is almost a perfect example of a three who often find themselves to be the catalyst for a love triangle.

Angelina certainly lives up to the number five's reputation as being a freedom loving, independent soul. The Life Path Number 5 is about freedom, independence and the right to follow where the heart and will lead you in life.

Jolie certainly demonstrates this life path number's desire to travel. They love to experience as many different life situations and life styles as possible and are extremely adaptable in this way.

Jolie's travels through Cambodia, Africa and other third world cultures certainly reflects the cultural curiosity of the five as do her numerous tattoos. A five is graceful in all situations which is partly how Jolie earned her status of the first person to win the U.N's World Citizen award.

Anyone with a life path number of 5 is destined do well in any "front line" occupation. For instance many crisis workers, emergency care workers and leaders of self- groups are fives. Jolie follows the spiritual and ethically responsible path of a five by spendng 2/3rds of everything she makes on charities.

The fact that she bought a plane and learned how to fly it herself in order to drop off food to needy refugees in Cambodia is also typical of a five. The fact that she does fly her own plane and has no fear of exotic places and people is also true to the five's love of daring and adventure.

As far as her personal life goes, Jolie may not be able to commit to any one lover for long. Her spirit is simply too democratic to value one human being's life above another - even in the name of love. This gives her an aloof character that men find irresistible, including Brad Pitt. True to the five's fickle nature, Jolie has been convinced that she has been deeply in love a number of times. This probably means that her affair with Brad Pitt is not likely to last.

Curious about the interpretation of your own life path number? Next week we will be giving you the rundown of the all nine numbers plus the two master numbers.

Until then,

Yours in Numbers,

Mike Madigan from "Numerologist".

The "Core" of Your Numerology Chart (Numerology Lesson 2)

In this post, we are going to introduce you to the "core" of your Numerology chart ... your four most important numbers, that really help to define you as a person.

These numbers are your Life Path Number, your Expression Number, your Soul Urge Number and your Destiny Number.

Whether you are punching your birthday and full name into a computer program or asking a numerologist to do your calculations in person, almost every numerology report contains these four elements:

* The Life Path Number that is based on your BIRTHDATE

* The Expression Number (sometimes referred to as the Personality Number, Potential Number and Destiny number) that is based on ALL THE LETTERS OF YOUR FULL NAME GIVEN AT BIRTH.

* The Soul Urge Number (sometimes also called the Soul, Soul Path or Heart's Desire number) that is based on a reduction of the VOWELS in your full birth name.

* The Destiny Number (sometimes also described as the Inner Dreams, Inner You or Karmic Number) that is based on a reduction of the CONSONANTS in your full birth name.

First of all lets look at the divination of the LIFE PATH number. The Life Path Number is calculated from assigning a numeric value (which don't worry! we will provide for you next week) to your birthday (which must be written out in long form as in 05/25/1959 as opposed to 05/25/59.)

The Life Path Number is perhaps the most commonly requested reading of all of the numerology readings as it is the easiest and fastest to do. It describes your journey through life and what you can best hope to accomplish.

However simply looking just at your Life path number does not constitute what I would call a full reading. Even a reading that consists of just the four core elements is not a complete analysis as it only describes the most likely projected path when you are born. It does not take into account special challenges or potential moments in time when you can use your free will in order to change what would otherwise be your fate.

The Life Path Number is the sum of your entire birthday including the year. This number represents whom you were when you came into this world and the extent of your potential and limitations physically, psychologically, spiritually and emotionally.

For instance a number Three may be born into this world with enormous talents and charisma but according to traditional numerology may not be able to sustain a relationship one on one for long because they are so busy following the calling of a successful career.

However, a number three who also has a Soul Urge Number of two (which is about finding true love) could meet a soul mate because they learn to transcend their personal fears and flaws. This is why it is important to look at all four of the CORE calculations before you assess a person's numerology chart.

The next core number you will be learning how to calculate in this course is your EXPRESSION number. This number is derived from all of the numbers in your full birth name. Not your married or pen name. It must be the name you were born with including all of your middle names.

The Expression Number is the number that describes all of the talents and personal potential that you will have at your disposal during this lifetime. This is the number that describes the ideal version of you that can develop if you make the right choices in life.

Some people are often quite daunted when they first calculate their Expression number as usually the interpretation describes ideals that may seem impossible to attain. Either that or they feel disappointed in themselves because the interpretation somehow "rings a bell" and they realize that they have achieved their potential so far in this lifetime.

One of the values of performing the Expression Number calculation is that it can be a wake up call that shows you just how far you have strayed from your heart's desires. In essence, it can help you remember what it was you always wanted to be when you were a little girl or boy. For instance, a stockbroker, with a Life Path number of materialistic eight might have an Expression number of nine, which means despite accumulated wealth his or her real desire might be to adopt children or be a philanthropist.

Without the fulfillment of the ideals of their Expression number in their lives people often feel empty or depressed no matter how successful they are.

Although you may find it difficult to live up to the expectations of your Expression number, the reading is almost always a call to action that asks you to live in the here and now and fulfill your original ambitions.

Your SOUL URGE number is calculated from the VOWELS in your full birth name. The unique interpretation that results from this number can almost be described as the ethical measure of who you really are on this earth. It defines what or whom you value most and describes "what makes you bloom and what makes you wilt."

Your Soul Urge Number is a very spiritual reading and the value of it's calculation is that the resulting interpretation often points you in the direction of where you can find real fulfillment in life. By this I mean the "food for your soul" that can help you thrive, rather than just survive from day to day.

The Soul Urge number is often revelatory because it also describes your inner desires as opposed to the limitations of your birth as imposed by the Life Path Number or your higher calling as described by the Expression Number.

For instance, a person with a spiritually oriented number 9 Life Path Number could feel rather lonely if they have devoted their life to chastity and the church if their Soul Urge Number is actually a number two which is about finding a soul mate.

As you can see, as we go on describing the function of the four core numbers that the readings can be as contradictory and complex as our personalities.

The fourth core number, the KARMIC number is arrived at through the reduction of the consonants in your name. This is the number that describes your secret fears, hopes and fantasies. It also represents the mysteries of the unknown. Some numerologists ascribe this number as possessing the traits of a person that you were in another life. At any rate, it describes the individual that you are on a subconscious level.

The Karmic number also possesses the odd quality of describing how others might see you as a first impression. It is considered to be a description of your astral imprint and what effect it has on other people and situations.

For instance, a nurturing Life Path number six might strike others as a busybody or interfering character if his or her Karmic number is number one which is a number about vainglorious achievement. The Life Path number six might be truly oblivious to other's perception that he or she is taking others to seem "holier than thou" thanks to the distortion provided by the Karmic Number Three.

If anything, the Karmic Number can explain why sometimes you feel like you are "damned if you do and damned if you don't" and why sometimes you may have strange dreams or feel compelled by strange or irrational urges that even to yourself seem "out of character."

In the next newsletter we are going to get into the nitty gritty of the calculations, starting out with instructions about how to calculate and interpret your most foundational number - your Life Path Number!

Yours in Numbers,

Mike Madigan from "Numerologist".

Remember to Remember (The Secret Daily Teachings)

Remember to remember means remember to be aware. Remember to be aware in this moment right now.

Being aware is seeing everything around you, hearing everything around you, feeling everything around you, and being completely focused on what you are doing right now.

Most people bring what they do not want because they are not aware that they are listening to the thoughts in their heads about the past and the future.

They are not even aware that they are being hypnotized by those thoughts, and are therefore living their life unconsciously.

When you remember to be aware, you are aware immediately. You just have to remember to remember!

What is Numerology? (Numerology Lesson 1 - Part 1)

Numerology is not about fortune telling, mind reading, the planets and their positions, casting spells or the occult. It is not magical or a mystery, it is purely an ancient science of numbers. It is about the numbers in your life and what they say about you, your personality, your abilities and talents, your heart’s desire, your motivation and your natural tendencies. Numerology will give you deep insights into your life that will help you reach your highest potential at any given point in your life.

Numerology is based on your full birth name, the name you use most frequently today including nick names and your date of birth. Each letter of the alphabet has a number representation and each number has a different and unique vibration.

The Universe has many different vibrations that flow together much like an orchestra has many different instruments that when played correctly flow together in a harmony that is beautiful. The energies or vibrations of the Universe also vibrate in a harmonious way like music. Your life also is filled with vibrations that when allowed to operate to their full capacity will vibrate in a congruent way like music and like the Universal energy. When this happens you will experience a very satisfying and fulfilling life. When your vibrations are out of sync or are being suppressed in some way, you will experience a difficult or even unhappy life.

The word Universe actually means Uni or one verse, one song. The latest physics publications have defined the Universe as a ‘unified energy field’. Your life experience is a symphony vibrating to the energies of your life as they flow in and through the energies of the ‘unified energy field’ as one melody. When your energies are out of balance, your life experience is out of tune with the Universal symphony and this imbalance comes through as either obsessive, compulsive behaviors and emotional responses or as apathetic or lethargic, emotionless behaviors.

Numerology is considered an ancient science of numbers because it was literally discovered thousands of years ago. The Greek philosopher, Pythagoras revived the science some 2600 years ago but in more recent times the new phase of numerology is accredited to L. Dow Balliett who published several books on the subject. After that resurgence Dr. Julia Seton did a lot to make numerology a more widely known science. Others have also contributed like Juno Jordan, Florence Campbell and many more. Today there are a ton of books on the subject, it is all over the Internet and now everyone seems to know just a little about Numerology.

How does Numerology work? (Numerology Lesson 1 - Part 2)

Numerology is an ancient Science. It’s believed that every person has preordained lessons to be learned from this life experience. Numerology recognizes an energy vibration which emanates from each number represented in a person’s date of birth and birth name which affect the challenges, experiences, and opportunities each person encounters in their lifetime.

Each letter of your name has a numeric value. The most influential number values emanate from your date of birth, which determines your life path. Each number represented by the letters of your names interplay with and influences the number vibration of your date of birth or Life Path number. All the number energies of your chart interact with each other and their value makes an impact on your life experience. These influencing energies directly affect your emotional intensities, ambitions, and abilities.

When two people join in a relationship, their energies are also joined. It is now a proven fact that even spending time sitting next to someone will change your energy vibration while you are sitting together. Have you spent time in a group of highly spiritual individuals discussing spiritual ideas? You can feel your vibration rise. If the room was a little chilly when the group arrived, it isn’t long before you want to turn on the fan. The energies experienced in a long-term relationship affect how the couple both relates within the confines of their own relationship and how they relate to others in their life experience. These energies may create challenges in some areas of their relationships, or they may enhance or embellish in other areas.

NUMEROLOGY IS AN ANCIENT SCIENCE…not fortune telling or divining. It is prophesy in a way but serves as a much greater tool than a prediction. When you become aware of influences and obstacles, it becomes easier to make adjustments and changes based on gained knowledge. How well you adjust and make changes in those difficult situations determines how well you maneuver through those preordained life lessons not to mention how well you function within your relationships. Numerology is an amazing science and helpful tool for reaching your highest potential in this life experience. It allows you to take full advantage of the personalized knowledge awaiting you.

What is a Numerology Reading? (Numerology Lesson 1 - Part 3)

A reading in numerology is a chart of all the numbers represented in a person’s life and a description of how those numbers affect that person. It shows their strengths and weaknesses, their potentials and challenges, their basic character traits, heart’s desires, and motivation. It will show relationship compatibilities, growth periods, major cycles of life, pinnacles along the way and what to expect from the maturity years. A reading can help you understand yourself in a much deeper way and will also help you understand how you can effectively interact with others.

Creating a basic reading or a simplified reading can be compared to baking a cake.

Basic White Cake Recipe

1 2/3 cups sugar
2/3 cup solid vegetable shortening
3 large eggs
2 large egg whites
1 1/4 cups whole milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups self-rising flour

A generic white cake has self-rising flour, butter, egg whites, vanilla extract, milk, and of course, sugar.

Your basic Numerology reading has:

Self-rising flour—Life Path number (body of cake)

Vanilla extract—Birthday number (enhances the cake)

Egg Whites—Expression (Destiny) number (makes the cake a white cake)

Butter—Soul Urge Number (the grease that makes the cake palatable)

Milk—Maturity number (makes it great in the end)

Sugar—Personality number (gives it the yummy quality)

There is the basic cake recipe but if you were to add chocolate, coconut, spices, fruit, pumpkin, chocolate chips, nuts, etc. your cake would no longer be considered a basic white cake. However, the main ingredients that make it a cake are still there and must remain to make your cake edible. By adding more ingredients you have ‘modified’ your basic cake recipe to make it even yummier and more interesting.

The same goes for a basic Numerology reading. The core elements; the life path number, the destiny number, the soul urge number, the personality, growth and maturity numbers all build a basic understanding of a person and tells why they do what they do or feel what they feel. Once you begin to add more modifiers to the mix, the deeper will be your insights and the more interesting the reading. The more you discover and understand the potentials and challenges of your entire life experience and how to reach your highest purpose the easier it will be for you to handle life’s roadblocks. How great is that?

Discover How a Numerology Reading is Used (Numerology Lesson 1 - Part 4)

Perhaps the best way to explain how a Numerology reading used is to tell a little story. A numerologist sits at her office desk and in walks a potential client. He introduces himself as Matt and says he is struggling with a career choice. He is not happy with his current occupation even though he makes a very comfortable income. This is a very simple request and just a very basic reading should quickly provide him with a positive direction in his career choices.

The first thing the numerologist will do is make a quick assessment of his first name. At this point it is the only information she has been given. Right away she uses her knowledge of name analysis through numerology and knows his natural tendencies are to be a strong independent worker who is well grounded with a strong awareness of the material world suggesting he is probably very practical and good with money.
She can tell this by the energy of the first two letters of his name, ‘m’ and ‘a’ as well as how the ‘m’ is structured. It is obvious also that Matt is a nickname that he must use often because this is how he introduced himself to her. The energy of the name Matt is 9 which is about someone who cares a great deal about his community and wants to be of service to his fellow man. Already she can tell he is probably experiencing conflicting energies.

She will now ask his basic information to create a quick chart. She asks his date of birth, his full birth name or given name and the name he uses most frequently today. After calculating this basic information she can now see his core numbers, the numbers that carry the greatest influence in his life. Matt’s given first name is Matthew which is as she had anticipated but spells it with two ‘Ts’ instead of one. This gives Matthew a 9 energy which is the same as his chosen nickname. His Life Path number is an 8 which is about hard work and stability or practicality. So far she knows his destined path in life is one of being the stable hard worker but his personality is one who has compassion for his fellow man. These can be very confusing energies for Matt. The 8 and 9 do not usually mix well. The 8 views the world from a material standpoint while the 9 sees the world from a spiritual perspective.

Further calculations show that Matt has a destiny or expression number of 4 but his soul urge or essence number is 9. This means that Matt is destined to experience or express life through his hard work ethics. However, the thing that motivates him, the urging deep within his soul or his heart of hearts is that of compassion for his fellow man and he longs inwardly to somehow be of service to his community.

Matt has an 8 Life Path which means his direction in life is that of achievement and success especially as it relates to business savvy. So now she knows that his maturity number is 3 which is about enjoying material pleasures, being creative and having fun in life. This is fitting being that he is experiencing a lifetime of working hard toward monetary success and also being driven to give of his talents to community service. A much deserved fitting conclusion to this life will be to reap the benefits of his efforts and to finally have fun with what he spent his life creating. Being that Matt is only just entering his second major cycle of life he is still in the building stages. This means that his career choice is extremely important right now as it will set the stage for a very happy ending.

At this point in the reading our numerologist has a couple very solid suggestions for Matt as to a good career choice. Before offering any advice from her findings, she asks Matt his work history. He tells her his first real job was as a mechanic. He said he did make decent money doing it and was pretty good but it was not something he really enjoyed doing. The job became a drudge so he decided to make a huge change and became a salesman and started out as a used car salesman. He did very well and was moved into the sales department specializing in new cars, very expensive new cars.

Even though he does very well selling new cars and is making good money, Matt is not really happy with his career choice. He feels somehow unfulfilled. He enjoys making the big commission checks but feels torn when he sells a car to someone he knows really cannot afford the extravagant expensive new car. Some days it is really hard work for him but other days it seems much better. He is confused.

Looking at Matt’s chart, it is obvious that he is feeling conflicted because his soul is urging him to be of service to his fellow man. Those days when he sells an expensive car to someone who has no business buying one, his soul is conflicted. He is not being of service to this person and his heart tells him so. When he does sell a new vehicle to someone who can easily afford this luxury he knows he has made them happy and feels he has provided a service to them. This is an easier work day and the commission check is much sweeter for him.

Now our numerologist can explain to Matt why he feels this way. Being a mechanic was drudgery because it only fulfilled his need to work hard and in such provided the stability he enjoyed. Moving into sales was a better fit but he is feeling conflicted and dissatisfied with his sales career because it does not often fulfill his need to be of service to his fellow man. Sales may be a good career choice but perhaps he is in the wrong kind of sales.

She explains to Matt that to reach his ultimate goal in his mature years of being able to relax and enjoy the wealth he has created he will need to make a change now. Matt’s strong urge toward being of service to his community might better be served if his career choice were selling insurance. Insurance is something that everyone needs and will provide great benefits to the person who buys what Matt offers. By selling security to others in the way of insurance will not only be a type of service to his fellow man but will be a lucrative business venture as well. This will satisfy his soul urge and his life path direction.

Another career choice might be an accountant. This is all about good management of money which is his area of expertise and it will benefit others helping them make the best use of their finances. Matt does admit that making money has always come easy to him so with his business savvy and his credentials he might want to consider being a business consultant. Once again he would be using all of his energies to their fullest potential.

Matt might also consider being a fund raiser. With his knack for making money and his compassion for his community, this might also be a good fit or at least a great way to spend his free time. Matt enjoys hard work and money so fund raising would actually be a fun activity for him to consider. It could be something he might enjoy doing when he reaches his retirement years.

Even though this has been just a very basic Numerology reading, Matt is stunned. After a brief silence he tells our numerologist that just last week while sitting down with his insurance agent, out of the blue he had been offered an opportunity to become an agent himself. His agent said that he was sure Matt would do very well and his company was in need of a new recruit who showed potential. Matt admitted that the offer, although taking him off guard, was something he had been seriously considering ever since. He also had not thought of doing fund raising and that too had a lot of interest for him. Matt left her office with a lot to think about and a much better understanding of his own energies.

This is a simple story about just one way a Numerology Reading is used. The more in-depth the reading goes the greater the understanding the person will have about who they truly are and why they feel the way they do about the experiences they have in life.

Understanding the core elements is like understanding the music of your soul.

Understanding the inner workings of the ancient science of Numerology should begin with the core elements. These are the most influential numbers in a person’s life and as such are the core or foundation of all that a person is; their personality traits, potentials and challenges.

All the numbers and their vibrations are based on these two simple guidelines:

Numbers used are always in a cycle of 1 through 9

Numbers are always reduced down to their simplest form, a single digit unless they are Master numbers 11,22, and possibly 33

The numbers in the chart are reduced to a single digit (unless they are the master numbers 11, 22, or 33). The numbers run in cycles of 1 through 9. Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a number energy. The universal energy of each number is the number vibrating in its purest form. Once other components are added, the vibration is changed or modified. The Life Path number in particular, is written in numerology with the last double digit followed by a slash and then the final single digit as the main numbers. For instance, a 6 life path number may be written like 24/6 or 15/6 depending on the two-digit number just before the final single digit.
(2 + 4 = 6 or 1 + 5 = 6)

What does this mean? In our illustration, 6 is the Life Path number. What lies directly behind that number influences how the vibrations of the 6 are felt or expressed. For instance, if the final two numbers before the 6 were 24 then the number is written as 24/6 life path number. The basic energy of the 6 life path is a person who feels great responsibility toward their family and friends and shows much love for them. The 24 energy behind this loving 6 tells how this person will handle or express that loving responsibility as they walk their path in life. The energies of the 2 and the 4 in 24 describes a person who needs to work hard at finding ways to bring peace and balance to his family and friends. He is works at being the support they need to meet their challenges in life.

However, if the numbers directly before the 6 are 15 the life path number is written as 15/6. The 1 and 5 of the 15 describes a person with the same loving responsibility but one who needs to take the responsibility on himself to find various ways to bring positive changes to his family and friends. He feels he needs to solve their problems for them.

These are two individuals with the same life path number but how they approach their loving walk in very different. Being that it is important to know the underlying energies behind the core numbers, it is almost always a good practice to make note of the double digit directly preceding the final single digit number.

The CORE Elements (Numerology Lesson 1 - Part 5)

There are about twenty components in a person’s birth date and birth name. The CORE of a reading involves only five of these components. The main CORE or the foundation of the reading consists of the following elements:

1. Life Path (always modified by the day of birth)
2. Expression or Destiny
3. Soul Urge or Essence
4. Personality
5. Maturity or Growth

Using the core numbers will give you a basic numerology reading. The core numbers are accurate as far as they go but as you add other components or modifiers to the person’s reading, the reading changes. The following are four ways that adding other components will change the energy influences in the reading:

- The relative power of the elements. Each element has a shift in power when other components are added and the energy is influenced.

- The modifying abilities of the elements. The strength of the elements and their ability to affect the reading are changed as more components are added.

- The amount of harmony or discord the elements provide will change when more components are added especially when the numbers are repeated or doubled.

- The effectiveness of the combined elements can also change.

Mixing paint can be compared to how the elements change in a reading when more components are added. You can start out with a can of pure white paint but when you add just a drop of yellow pigment you immediately alter the color to white with just a hint of yellow. Now if you add a drop of blue it will change the paint to white with a hint of green. However, if you add a drop of red to the mix your white will change to light beige. Add two or three drops of red and you will have salmon or pinkish beige. Add more yellow and you are on your way to orange. The CORE or foundation of the paint is still white but depending on the additions to the white, the color is affected. It is changed in appearance and in value. Changing the value of the paint turns it into either a warm or a cool color. If just one drop of yellow is added there will be just a ‘hint’ of yellow but two or three drops of yellow and the paint is no longer viewed as white but rather pale yellow. It will no longer be used as white paint. The paint will no longer be considered white with just a touch of yellow; it will be yellow paint.

How number energies will change:

Numerology readings will change depending on the modifiers or the added components. Here is how a reading may change. As an example let’s say the person in the reading has a 4 life path number because his date of birth is February 3, 1961. This means he is hard working, practical and orderly. His birthday is the 3 energy so combine this with the 4 and we now see that he is creative about his hard work and tends to have fun with the work he does. He enjoys working hard. He is not seen as a person who works hard but as a person who enjoys working hard. His basic white has a drop of yellow and it affects his personality traits and his abilities. His friends will say, “Oh he is happy today, he is hard at work on his latest project!” For this person, laying on the couch with the remote and a bag of chips is not satisfying.

Now if his expression or destiny number, which tells of his abilities, is a 1 we see that the hard work he does is best used in an executive or administrative role. Adding a drop of red to the mix, the 1 energy, makes him an independent thinker and worker. His white with just a hint of yellow is now changing color and value. The 3 energy spurs him on to be an original and creative leader. However, say his soul urge or his essence (the driving or motivating force behind him) is an 8. The 8 intensifies the life path 4 and gives him specific direction and purpose. His color deepens. His intensity deepens. Now we understand that he is driven to wealth, success, status and power.

His path in life of hard work clearly has a specific purpose, that of achievement. He probably has a tendency to approach his efforts from the standpoint of being dominant and controlling. He may be too dominating, too exacting, stubborn or rigid and repress his feelings. However, with the yellow of his 3 energy in the mix, his personality will be tempered and his rigid edges may be softened and he may find it easier to lighten up on himself and others and enjoy the creative side of his 4 life path. His basic white is strengthened because the 4 and 8 energies work well together and that energy is boosted. Still the 3 of the birthday keeps his white tinted with a hint of yellow. His 3 personality is an added element, more yellow, that softens his approach to life and brings some creativity and fun to his life. Now the guy who is all about hard work, money and success has a fun side bringing balance to his life. His stark white is now a shade of yellow making him a much more pleasant person to be around.

If the maturity or growth number is also a 3 then this approach to life may come to him in his later years. The growth number will give me little boosts when he most needs it along his path in life. Then, during his third major cycle he will finally understand that his true joy comes from the creation aspect of his strong work ethic and that following the flow of his originality and creativity will produce the success his soul demands of him. This will hit him hard because there are repeated 3’s in his core. Now his white has been mixed with extra yellow and the intensity of the change affects his life.

More components can be added to the basic 4 life path number or his basic white that will describe him further. For instance, looking at his 4 life path number, the modifiers, the last two numbers used to reduce down to the 4 is 13. This means that behind his 4 is a karmic debt, which he is destined to work through in this life experience. The 13 means he chose the 4 life path to correct the abuse of work related responsibility in a previous life. He probably acted selfishly burdening others with his rightful share of the work. Adding the 13 energy is like adding a drop of red and a drop of yellow into the now pale yellow paint. This changes his color from pale yellow to a hint of salmon. His energies have been influenced or modified slightly by adding the karmic 13.

Hopefully you can see that the basic 4 energy of the hard worker who is practical, organized and disciplined is still true but you have a much broader picture of this person than you did with just the life path 4 energy. No one is just pure white. Everyone has a mix of energies that create their personality, abilities, challenges, desires and opportunities for growth. Understanding the core elements is the beginning of understanding the person.

Numerology Course

Imagine this if you will: there's a long room with doors at each end.

In this room there is money, attractive people of the opposite sex, books that tell you the secret of success, and many other valuable articles.

But, also in this room and bottomless pits, traps, hostile persons, and dangerous beasts chained in various places around the room.

You must walk through this room, but you may take out of it anything you choose.

Now if you have the choice, would you choose to:

Go through the room blindfolded, or go through the room with your eyes open, and with written instructions on which places and people to visit or avoid.

Of course, we would all pick the second choice in a case such as this. Isn't it ridiculous, then, that we would choose to go through life, the same situation, blindfolded! Even when there is a means to go through life with a map and our eyes wide open! The means provided is numerology. The map is our numerology chart.

Although numerology has been practiced for centuries, in modern times it really does have huge practical applications particularly if you are interested in psychological self-investigation.

It can also be used to predict high and lows in your life as well as determine what makes you (and others) tick.

Perhaps its greatest value is in its capacity to help you assess your personal strengths and weaknesses as well as provide you with an intuitive snapshot of another person's traits (something I was once skeptical of, until I tried it!).

In the following posts we are going to teach you the following basic concepts:

  • How to familiarize yourself with each number by getting up close and personal with the KEY traits associated with each.
  • How to determine your life path number, revealing the central focus of your existence, and the best course you should chart for your own growth and development.
  • How to use your full name to determine your Expression number, showing you how best to make the most of your talents and abilities (some of which may still be undiscovered!)
  • How to use the vowels in your name to determine your soul's purpose, used to help reveal and satisfy your most innermost and important desires.
  • How to use the consonants in your name to divulge your inner dreams and maximum potential in life.

In addition, you will learn through using simple charts and worksheets:

  • How to determine at roughly what age you enter major life cycles and how they will impact your life.
  • How to determine what your personal year is and how to take advantage of this period of time so that you can make optimum use of the blessings offered during this "window of opportunity."
  • How to use numerology to detect your life's challenges and personal weaknesses (which is not as negative as it may sound, since you can compensate for them as soon as you are aware of them);
  • How to use numerology to find reveal practical challenges you can expect in the future.
  • How to divine your karmic number which will tell you about your particular strengths and challenges as you travel along life's paths.
  • How to find the essence of your name (also known as your transits) to find out your true focus for periods that demarcate the phases of your life.
  • How to find the four pinnacles of your life and at what ages these important periods, which are the equivalent of the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter of your life, will occur.
  • How to determine your Planes of Expression Numbers which tells you to what extent you are an adaptable, grounded, or creative personality... and whether or not your personality is centered more in your mental, physical, emotional or intuitive spheres of being.

Finally the course will wrap up with a practical template that shows you how to do a reading for another person, using all of the information you have learned in the course.

At the very least, learning numerology is a fascinating journey of self-discovery ... at it's most it is a revelatory metaphysical science and self-help tool, that can provide you with more great insights about yourself and others than you ever dreamed was possible!

So, once again, I welcome you as we take this enchanting journey into the world of numerology. On the next post, we'll look into the specific meanings of each number, which we'll then use as we start putting together your complete numerology chart.
